What is Mounjaro/Tirzepatide and Ozempic/Semaglutide?
Ozempic/Semaglutide and Mounjaro/Tirzepatide work more or less the same way — by mimicking the incretin hormones that your body naturally produces when you eat food.
Both are once-weekly injections. Mounjaro/Tirzepatide acts on both GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptor and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist that involves the control of blood sugar levels. GIP has been shown to decrease food intake while blunting the metabolic adaptive responses that usually occur with calorie restriction resulting in weight reductions, and when combined with GLP-1 receptor agonism, may result in greater effects on markers of metabolic dysregulation such as body weight, glucose and lipids.
What is the difference? Ozempic/Semaglutide acts solely on GLP-1 receptors. Escalate: Ozempic (Semaglutide) 1 mg or Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) 7.5 mg
Max dose: Ozempic (Semaglutide) 2 mg or Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) 15mg
